New Year’s Reading 2026
Following on from my 2025 final total of 156 books/audiobooks/short stories read, I have decided to continue with my newly re-established reading habit. My 2025 reading record can be viewed on the My Bookshelf 2025 page, and I have now started a new record for 2026 on the My Bookshelf 2026 page.
My aim for 2026 is to keep up my reading, but in a more relaxed way, concentrating on what I want to read, and perhaps not forcing such high numbers, but making space for the reading as a core part of my daily life.
I am interested to see how well my year-long challenge has prepared me for balance; I am now aiming to maintain regular reading around new challenges; this year I am aiming to concentrate on diet and exercise improvements. Overall, everything I am doing is aiming to improve my health and general daily life, and possibly alleviate the impact of my disabilities. I have no idea whether I will be able to move to treating my reading as just a general part of my routine, or if I will try and overdo it and read to the detriment of new aims and objectives for the year. The other possibility, of course, is that I will stop reading at all, and my newly acquired habit will fall back by the wayside.
I very much would like to keep my reading habit in my life, and so I am going to do my best to learn some balance. I will aim to blog about the books I have read once monthly still, but will be looking to shorten and streamline my reviewing process, probably by choosing between Goodreads and Storygraph.
This initiates my reading challenge for 2026. I am back on some kind of journey!
